NANA FORTE (*1981) graduated in composition from the Music Academy in Ljubljana in 2005. She continued her postgraduate studies at Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden and at Universität der Künste in Berlin.
Her extensive portfolio encompasses compositions for chamber ensembles, vocal, vocal-instrumental, music-theatrical, and orchestral works. Specializing in choral music, she collaborates regularly with choirs and conductors globally. One of her notable choral compositions, "LIBERA ME" for double mixed choir, has received international acclaim, being featured in performances worldwide. It was an obligatory piece at the finals of the 5th International Competition for Young Choral Conductors Europa Cantat in Ljubljana in 2009, included in the Netherlands Chamber Choir's concert tour in 2018, and served as a compulsory piece at the finals of the World Conducting Competition in Hong Kong in 2019.
In 2017, the Swedish Radio Choir premiered her composition "EN EGO CAMAPANA" for double mixed choir in Stockholm. The piece has since been showcased in various international events, including the World Youth Choir's tour in China and Inner Mongolia in 2018, the ULTIMA Oslo Contemporary Music Festival in 2018, and the Eric Ericson Award 2021 in Stockholm. Nana Forte also participated in the ISCM World Music Days 2017 in Vancouver, where her orchestral piece "Zaklinjanje" (Incantation) was performed by the Victoria Symphony.
Her orchestral composition "THE SHADES OF MY SILENCE" premiered with the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra in 2021, and her cantata "SANJE LETA" debuted at the opening concert of the Slovenian Music Days 2022. In 2023, the Bavarian Radio Choir commissioned and premiered her work "MISERERE MEI" for a mixed choir.
Nana Forte's compositions have been commissioned and performed by various esteemed ensembles, including The Slovenian Philharmonic String Chamber Orchestra, Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra, The Danish National Vocal Ensemble, BBC Singers, MDR-Rundfunkchor, State Choir Latvija, Stockholms Musikgymnasium Kammarkör, Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir, SYC Ensemble Singers, Allmänna Sången, La Maîtrise de Radio France, S:t Jacobs Kammarkör, Helsinki Chamber Choir, and others.
Beyond vocal and instrumental works, Nana Forte has expanded her artistic range into opera and musical theater, with her opera debut "Paradies oder nach Eden" premiering in 2016 at the Vorarlberger Landestheater Bregenz in Austria.
